MISSIONS

We are a missions-minded and missional church! We believe in praying, giving, and going to fulfil Christ's command in the Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples of all the nations (Matt. 28:18-20). We do this by giving to mission work through our local Baptist association (3%), and through the Cooperative Program (10%) from our budget offerings. We support mission work through special offerings each year: Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions, Golden Offering for State missions, and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International missions.

We also participate each year in the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox collection for needy children in other countries. We support our local pregnancy crisis center in Columbia with our baby bottle collection in January while observing Sanctity of Human LIfe Sunday. We support the work of the Gideons International with an annual love offering. We support the work of Voice of the Martyrs for persecuted Christians around the world through personal donations and through a Parachute Project to drop Bibles into closed or restricted countries.

As a church we adopted the ACTS 1:8 MODEL for participating in mission work (2006). Click here to see our Acts 1:8 graphic. [Click through this Power Point slide show.]

In practical terms, the Acts 1:8 Model means our church participates in some missions activity, project, or trip each year in all four circles of Acts 1:8*: Mt. Pleasant (our Jerusalem), Tennesse (our Judea), USA (our Samaria), and another country (ends of the earth). We have faithfully practiced this model for the past 6 years. For example, some of the trips and projects have included: our local BLAST outreach program, VBS, Trunk or Treat, association trips to East Tennessee, men's mission trips to West Tennessee, WMU support project to the Jefferson Center in Louisville, and a project to purchase a goat for a family in Liberia, Africa, Faithrider trips to NC, revival in Montana, disaster relief trips to Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, and mission trips to Mexico to plant a mission in Boca de Arrollo, Sinaloa.

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

Won't you join us in obeying our Lord's last words on this earth to His disciples before returning to the Father in heaven?
